Abstract

With the use of a new curriculum, namely the independent curriculum at SMKN 2 Kudus, there is an innovation in the use of English learning media, namely by using videos from Youtube. Therefore the researcher conducted research on this thesis to find out the implementation of using Youtube as a medium for learning English expecially Narrative Text material in class X majoring in electrical engineering at SMKN 2 Kudus, the obstacles using Youtube as a medium for learning English by teachers and students, and the solutions they use to deal with the obstacles they experience. This research approach is a qualitative descriptive method. There are two techniques used to collect the data needed for this study; observation and interview. The result of this study is that there are 3 steps implementing Youtube as a Medium for learning narrative Text is the teacher shows a video to students, explains the material, gives questions and exercise to the students about narrative text,. The obstacles faced by students are that they couldn’t catch the meaning of some words or sentences because the video there not any subtitles and because of it’s difficult pronounciation. It is hoped that teachers can replay the video not only one and students can ask other friends, make some notes when waching the video and look for the difficult words translate on google translate.
